Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.
#87 - Jalen Harris, TE
Game - Auburn vs. Oklahoma (2017 Sugar Bowl) January 2, 2017
I was at this game nursing one of the worst hangovers of my life. I didn’t have real food all day until finally getting some red beans and rice from a stand inside the Superdome. All I remember of this game is Sean White breaking his arm on the first drive of the game and never telling the coaches about it until it was painfully obvious. At that point Auburn had to turn to Jeremy Johnson again, and other than chanting things at the human garbage that is Joe Mixon. There wasn’t much memorable...until Gus pulled an absolute troll move
Yep, still funny to me.
I also love that he would bring this back at a particularly big moment the next year.
As for this year, #85 now belongs to Tyler Fromm, and I really hope he gets Jalen off the hook. Especially against Georgia.
