Pennsylvania powerlifting phenom Rachel Klein will study architecture at Auburn

Something’s happening up North. New Jersey. Now Pennsylvania. They’re sending us their best. Word is getting around. War Eagle.

Last week, it was childhood cancer survivor Emily Calabro, who declared for the Tigers on The TODAY Show. This week, it’s Rachel Klein, a strapping Keystone State kilo killer who has made a name for herself as a high school powerlifter. The North American Powerlifting Federation’s bench press title? Third place at the 2019 USA Powerlifting High School Nationals? Yep, both hers. And come fall, she’ll be adding a little a lot of muscle to Auburn’s College of Architecture.

“It’s just a unique way to express your strength,” Rachel told WYOU. “Because in other sports you’re, like, running or catching, and I’m not good at either of those things, so powerlifting kind of gave me the opportunity to have a different type of sport that I was successful at.”
