Auburn in the Pros - Season Wrap-up

NCAA Basketball: SEC Conference Tournament-South Carolina vs Auburn Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

It appears that Basketball season for our former Auburn players is over. Time to take a look at how everyone did this season.

Throughout the year, I have done my best to keep up with former Auburn Basketball players: especially those who played on the special Final Four team of 2018-2019. With basketball all but stopping for awhile, it looks like most of these guys seasons are over.

So how did our guys do this season? Sit back, relax and read through our season wrapup of Auburn in the Pros.

Jared Harper - Northern Arizona Suns

33 games with the NAZ Suns: 20.8 PPG, 5.7 APG, 2.8 RPG

Jared got into 3 games with the Phoenix Suns this season and scored his first career NBA points on February 3rd against the Brooklyn Nets.

Jared Harper spent way too much time in the G-League this year and quite frankly, deserved better.

Apparently, he was too good for the Suns that they decided to waive him Thursday, March 12th, hours after the NBA suspended their season. The Suns management explained the decision as an opportunity to find him a new home (hopefully in the NBA). Hopefully for Jared, he will find a new home in the NBA and make sure the Suns don’t forget about it whenever he faces them.

Bryce Brown - Maine Red Claws

16.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.4 APG, 125-295 3 Point Range (42.4%)

The timing couldn’t have been worse for Bryce Brown, who was playing really well for Maine and poised to earn a 10-day contract at the end of the season. The highlight of Bryce’s year had to be on December 7th when he was a perfect 11-11 from 3-point en route to a season high 43 points.

Chuma Okeke - Lakeland Magic

Chuma spent this season rehabbing with the Magic’s G-League team in Lakeland as he took a “redshirt” year to recover from his torn ACL. By all accounts, his recovery is going well and hopefully we will see him in Orlando at the start of next season.

Kenny Gabriel - College Park Skyhawks

38 games - 7.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 1.1 APG

After years of playing overseas, Kenny returned to the States this year and played for the G-League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks. He carved out a role coming off the bench for the Skyhawks.

Kenny’s best game of the season came on January 30th when he had 19 points and 12 rebounds against the Wisconsin Herd.

Malik Dunbar - Artland Dragons (Germany)

23 games - 14 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.5 APG

#ClassicMalik went International this season but he continued to thrill his supporters just as he did in Auburn.

Malik had 33 points in his 3rd professional game and played with the enthusiasm we all came to know and love in Auburn.

Horace Spencer - Atenas (Argentina)

33 games total - 12 PPG, 11.1 RPG

25 La Liga games - 13.7 PPG, 11.6 RPG

Horace Spencer had an incredible first season with Atenas and consistently put up double-doubles throughout the season. In 33 games, Horace had 18 double-doubles. He also had a 25 rebound game this season as well and his scoring high was 24 points.

LaRon Smith - Atenas (Argentina)

6 games - 2.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG

LaRon was a late add to this year’s Atenas squad, joining the team on February 7th, and was able to reunite with college teammate Horace Spencer. In 6 games with the club, LaRon got a few minutes off the bench with more minutes as he got more acclimated to the team. His best game was his final game, when he had 11 rebounds in the teams win over Penarol.

Tyler Harris - Penarol (Argentina)

13 games - 15.9 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.5 APG

Harris joined Penarol midway through January and was playing well for Penarol. He and Horace Spencer faced off on March 10th with Harris scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds but Horace and LaRon’s team got the win that night. Tyler posted 5 double-doubles in his 13 games including a 20 point, 15 rebound game.

T.J. Dunans - BBC Monthey (Switzerland)

19 games - 15.7 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 4.5 APG, 1.6 SPG, 1.3 BPG

T.J. Dunans put together an excellent season over in Switzerland. He was the Swiss Player of the Month after averaging 20.8 PPG along with 8.2 RPG.

Antoine Mason - Halifax Hurricanes (Canada)

24 games - 25.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.5 APG

I haven’t talked much about Antoine in this section this year which is a shame because we’ve been missing out. Antoine has a 44 and 43 point game this and scored 30 in a game on 7 different occasions. He now holds the franchise record for points, reaching that mark on February 25th.

I know I left somebody out but my goal going forward is to follow these guys better next season, and with 5-6 guys from this year’s Auburn team moving on to the next level, there will be plenty of more updates from me as I do my best to keep up these guys professional careers! War Eagle to all of you!!
