It’s that time of year when pre season watch list are being released almost every other day. And Auburn has had two players named to prestigious award watch list this week.
Line backer Derrick Brown was named to the Bednarik Award preseason watch list on Monday and then today he was named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy preseason watch list.
Senior running back Kam Martin has been named to the Doak Walker Watch List. The award is named for SMU’s three-time All-America running back Doak Walker. Martin has gone over 300 yards in each of his three seasons at Auburn and he has amassed 1,231 career rushing yards.
The Bednarik Award is named after NFL Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik and is presented annually to the College Defensive Player of the Year. The Lott IMPACT Trophy is named is also named after an NFL Hall of Famer, Ronnie Lott, and it’s given to college football’s Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year.
Brown has racked up 115 career tackles including nine sacks, and 21 tackles for loss. He will be one of three players that will represent Auburn on Thursday at SEC Media Days. You can be sure he will be questioned about his nominations to national award list. Hopefully Derrick and Kam will have the type year that will keep them in the running for these prestigious awards.
