Auburn starts another summer month with a big time “Boom”
When 4* WR Ze’Vian Capers decommitted from the Hogs following two visits to the Plains in early June, one for Big Cat Weekend, you couldn’t help but think the Tigers had made a big move in this recruitment. When he took an official visit the next week and told reporters he planned on committing at The Opening on July 1st, well it started to look VERY likely Auburn had surged ahead in this race. Today, he made things official, announcing his pledge to the Auburn Tigers.

Capers had a final 3 of Auburn, South Carolina and Tennessee but this one has been all Tigers for some time. The talented Georgia native clicked not only with Auburn’s coaching staff but some current 2020 commitments, most notably 4* WR Kobe Hudson who deserves a big assist in this win on the trail.
Highlights
Scouting Report
Capers was one of the most productive wideouts in the state of Georgia last season catching 60 passes for 1,182 yards and 11 touchdowns. He averaged an impressive 19.7 yards a catch and put up over 100 yards a game. At almost 6’4 weighing just shy of 200 lbs, Capers is an intimidating athlete on the field. He’s a vertical threat, with the speed to consistently take the top off the defense but agile enough to create big plays out of short targets as well. You can also see he has a knack at gaining separation from defenders in press coverage something I expect shines out this week in 1 on 1 drills at The Opening. With Capers and J.J. Evans, Auburn has two of the most prolific wide receivers in the southeast in the 2020 class.
The Class
Once again, Auburn finds themselves in position to sign another tremendous wide receiver class. Capers gives the Tigers four commits at the position. In fact, three of Auburn’s top 4 commits at this time are at wideout. Kodi Burns is doing work.
Unless 4 WR E.J. Williams wants on board, the Tigers are more than likely done at wideout this cycle. However, 4* WR J.J. Evans recently admitted he’s only “95 percent committed” at the moment which is always worrisome to hear so if anything were to change in that recruitment, you might see the Tigers pursue some other targets. But as of now, it’s hard not to be excited about the WR talent coming to campus especially with two young talented QBs on the roster in Joey Gatewood and Bo Nix.
