Countdown to Kickoff: Jordan Colbert, #100

... who?

Kickoff is one hundred days away! ONE. HUNDRED. The number of official yards Chris Davis ran back the missed field goal. So what are we going to do for these next 3-ish months until the Tigers play Oregon? Count it down, of course. With the top 100 recruits in Auburn history*.

Our list starts with Jordan Colbert, a 4* safety in the 2015 signing class. Let’s take a look at his story.

Recruitment

Colbert cam to Auburn from Griffin HS in Griffin, GA. An early addition to the signing class, Colbert was a leader in the recruitment of other players in his class. At 6’2” 210 lbs he came into college at a great size for safety. He was also being recruited by all of the blue-bloods, holding offers from Bama, Clemson, FSU, and UGA. It’s no surprise Auburn landed his talents, however, knowing that Coach Rodney Gardner was the point man for his recruitment.

Colbert came in as the #168 player nationally, #9 at his position, and #18 in the state of Georgia in 2015. He was also the 7th ranked recruit in Auburn’s class that year.

Auburn Career

Unfortunately, this countdown doesn’t get to start off with a bang. Jordan Colbert’s Auburn career - and football career as well - ended before it ever really began. Auburn had enough talent at safety in 2015 to redshirt Colbert. But, come Janurary of the next year, he announced he would be transferring to Holmes CC in Mississippi. As far as I can tell, Colbert never actually joined the team at Holmes, and there’s no record of him playing football anywhere else, either.

Tomorrow, a slightly more familiar face will show up. Check back to find out who!
