Nostalgic Friday: 1993 Auburn vs. Florida

It’s a shame that league expansion has changed some of the most historic rivalries in the SEC. One of the most exciting every year was the Auburn – Florida game. There have been so many extraordinary games in the series and today we look at another great one.

Auburn came into the contest on October 16, 1993, as a big underdog at home. The fourth-ranked Gators were expected to trounce over the upstart 19th ranked Tigers.

Few around the country believed that Auburn’s 6-0 record was for real. The victory marked a turning point in the season – others around the country started taking notice of this team and its young coach, Terry Bowden.

Before a capacity crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn would prevail in a back and fourth cntest that ended with the Tigers pulling out a 38-35 win on the way to a perfect 11-0 season.

At the end of today’s highlights there is some rare footage of lockeroom interviews of some of the great players on that undefeated team.  James Bostic, Frank Sanders, Chris Shelling, and Brian Robinson to name a few. Enjoy and …
