Auburn Baseball Set for Rematch With LSU

After being run-ruled by No. 2 Vanderbilt Wednesday, the Auburn Tigers are set to play LSU, a team they beat 5–4 in extra innings in the final game of the regular season. Today’s SEC Tournament game will pit LHP Jack Owen (4–2, 2.37 ERA) against LSU’s Landon Marceaux (4–2, 5.70 ERA).

The two faced each other in the Friday game of that series in what was a pitcher’s dual even though the  5–1 score belied that fact. Marceaux gave up just two hits and one run in seven innings while Owen allowed four runs in seven innings.

Auburn not only needs a good outing from Owen but a strong presence at the plate. One thing that may help the boys in blue is how tired LSU may be after playing for nearly 7 hours (17 innings) yesterday in a losing contest to Mississippi State. The 6–5 defeat didn’t conclude till 3:00 a.m.

Both teams are playing to stay alive in the Tourney after tough losses. The winner advances and the loser goes home to await its destination in the NCAA postseason.

Depending on how long the morning game between Texas A&M and Ole Miss takes, the first pitch for Auburn–LSU is scheduled for 12:30 CT. Go Auburn …

Beat LSU!
