He’ll get to maybe catch passes from... someone...
After just one player was drafted through the first two days, more Auburn players are starting to come off the board, including Darius Slayton in the fifth round.
Round 5, No. 171 overall: #Giants select @AuburnFootball's Darius Slayton #NFLDrafthttps://t.co/e7crkXGAAx

Slayton becomes the third Auburn player selected in the 2019 NFL Draft after Jamel Dean (third round - Tampa Bay) and Jarrett Stidham (fourth round - New England), and he’ll get to go play in the Big Apple to try and revitalize the New York Giants after a tumultuous offseason.
The skills that Slayton will bring to the table were showcased in the Music City Bowl, and he’ll bring a ton of speed and big-play ability to the Giants’ offense. With the loss of Odell Beckham to the Browns in the offseason, New York is looking for some help on the outside.
After selecting Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth-overall pick, the Giants have gone with defensive picks exclusively until Slayton was selected with the 171st pick. To be quite plain, the Giants’ roster is one where Slayton may have a chance to make an immediate impact.
Of the other wide receivers on the roster, only Sterling Shepard had more than 16 catches. Eli Manning chose to throw to Saquon Barkley out of the backfield, and tight ends Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison more than the actual wideouts. With Beckham gone, there will be a chance for Slayton to take on his speedy home-run role to give the New York offense a boost.
The biggest question comes in terms of who Slayton will be catching passes from. Will Manning be able to hold off Daniel Jones, or will the Giants lean more toward their top draft pick from this year? We’ll have to see. There are a ton of questions on that offense, and Slayton can honestly use the turmoil to work hard and find a spot for himself.
