Tigers Sign 3-Star Offensive Tackle Justin Osborne

An important signee at a major position of need.
Look, offensive tackle recruiting has not been great the past two cycles. Auburn didn’t sign a single OT in last year’s class though were able to soften the blow a bit by reeling in Jack Driscoll. This year, the Tigers have whiffed on top targets like 5* Wanya Morris, 4* Xavier Truss, 4* Amari Kight, 3* Adrian Medley and plenty of others. That’s why this signee is so important.
3* Justin Osborne was a TCU commit before Auburn came calling. He was a guy that JB Grimes targeted early and Auburn was able to get him on an official visit in the spring. That led to a decommitment and the eventual pledge to the Tigers. Now he’s a signee.
Osborne had an odd senior year. He transferred to IMG Academy after his junior year but decided to return home to Flower Mound, TX when the season started. That meant he had to sit out the first 3 games of the year. But after those bumps he got rolling.
To me, he’s the exact type of prospect Auburn should be recruiting more of moving forward. He’s not day 1 ready but he’s got the frame and skillset to grow into a very talented offensive tackle. What I love most about Osborne is his feet. He’s not a slowly plodding monster out there, instead he’s extremely light on his feet allowing him to be very effective in space. While he might not carry the flashiest rating in the world, I do think Osborne has the potential to be a VERY good offensive lineman for the Tigers down the road.
Offensive tackle will obviously be a huge need for Auburn in 2020 and beyond. I think this kid has a chance to help fill that hole.
War Eagle Justin!
