Former Auburn guard Wes Flanigan hired to Bruce Pearl's coaching staff

Former Auburn All-SEC guard Wes Flanigan is joining Bruce Pearl's coaching staff.

Flanigan, who was the head coach at Arkansas-Little Rock for the last two years, was hired as an assistant coach at his alma mater on Monday.

The addition of Flanigan moves Chad Prewitt, who took over as an assistant coach last season after Chuck Person was fired following his arrest in connection with the FBI's investigation of college basketball, back to a support staff position.

Flanigan, who played at Auburn from 1993-97 under Cliff Ellis, averaged 10.1 points and 4.8 assists for the Tigers and was an All-SEC selection as a junior. His 573 career assists are second in program history.

A Little Rock native, Flanigan began his coaching career as an assistant at Northwest Mississippi C.C. from 2000-04 with stops at UALR, UAB, Nebraska and Mississippi State. He went 22-42 in two years at UALR.
