Gus Malzahn and the Tigers received a nice Christmas surprise with the 19th commitment of the 2017 class.
Auburn added the first defensive lineman to the 2017 class this afternoon when 3* Alec Jackson of Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, AL announced his commitment to the Tigers on Twitter.

Jackson, 6'5 and 270 lbs, committed to the Tigers over offers from USCw, most of the SEC, and quite a few others. He named Southern Cal his leader after a visit to California, but Jackson grew up a fan of the nearby Tigers and ultimately decided to play for the team he always dreamed of playing for.
Highlights
Good grief, he looks big in these highlights. Granted, 6'5 is big, but still. He also has a motor on him and sure does fight hard through the offensive lines. With his size, he can really play anywhere on the line that Auburn wants him to. He could move out to the end and stay at his current size or - given his height - he could add 25-30 lbs and really wreck folks on the interior.
The Class
This is commitment #19 for the Tigers in 2017. That's still counting long snapper Bill Taylor, who is going to "Blue Shirt" and not really be a part of the 2017 class. The Tigers are currently 5th in the SEC and 10th in the nation in recruiting and have at least 6-7 spots still remaining. Given that Jackson is the first defensive line commit, you can bet that the Tigers would like to add at least one more before all is said and done.
