THE RETURN OF JORDYN PETERS

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#15 — Jordyn Peters, DB

Game — Auburn vs. Liberty, November 17, 2018

This is not the first time we’ve featured this game. Heck it’s not even the second time we’ve featured this game. It’s not even the THIRD TIME we’ve featured this game. Like I said in an earlier feature: this type of thing tends to lend itself to a lot of random dudes scoring.

But this time it’s one of my favorite players putting his name in the paper. It’s not even the first time we’ve called out Jordyn Peters in this list, but this time he gets the points to his name.

Jordyn Peters made an Auburn career out of doing just that. He just seemed to have a knack for blocking punts. Here he doesn’t make some spectacular move. He gets a great burst off of the line, the personal protectors decide not to block him (granted there were plenty of other Tigers that needed attention), and he nearly takes the ball straight off the foot of the Liberty punter. To be honest, Liberty’s lucky it bounced out of the endzone. But if it had, we wouldn’t get to celebrate Jordyn Peters “scoring” the points.

Freshman cornerback AD Diamond has taken over #15 from Jordyn. Could he be an heir apparent? I can only hope.
