NumerAUlogy — 91 Days

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#91 — Jake Ricks, DT

Game - Auburn vs. Tennessee, September 27, 2008

Ah, a game that would also go down as one of Auburn’s most forgettable wins of the last 20 years. A game so bad that our own Drew McCracken wrote about how terrible it was.

The touchdown itself had little to do with Auburn making a play, other than Jake Ricks getting good penetration off the line. That said, I don’t think Arian Foster is going to make much out of this play even if Crompton doesn’t just kinda throw it at him instead of handing the ball off...

That score would provide Auburn’s winning margin. The less said about this game the better.

The current #91 with a chance to supplant Mr. Ricks? Oh it’s only punter Oscar Chapman. That could be a lot of fun.
