NumerAUlogy — 86 Days

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#86 — Courtney Taylor, WR

Game - Auburn vs. Arkansas State, November 4, 2006

It says something about how rough Auburn’s offense was in the latter stages of 2006 that their best receiver didn’t find the endzone after the first quarter of the first game of November. This play itself was part of a hot start as Auburn’s 6th play of the game was a play-fake to Kenny Irons and a great crossing route by Taylor.

The game itself ended as a Tuberville special: 27-0 and not much entertainment on offense. Since then, we haven’t had a big time player wear #86. Right now, it belongs to tight end Luke Deal, who played well during the spring. Hopefully the new staff’s emphasis on throwing the ball to the tight ends gets Courtney off the hook.
