One of the best transfers on the market is headed to the Plains.

Bryan Harsin made it very clear at his National Signing Day press conference that the Tigers were far from done. Two days later, Auburn landed 3-star RB Jarquez Hunter. Saturday, 4-star OLB Dylan Brooks committed to the Tigers. Now today, Auburn got more good news when former West Virginia cornerback Dreshun Miller announced his intentions to be an Auburn Tiger.

This is a big pickup for Auburn. Miller was one of the better cornerbacks in the country last fall and one of the top transfers in the portal. He joins a cornerback room loaded with talent giving new Auburn defensive coordinator Derek Mason and new Auburn cornerbacks coach Zac Etheridge a lot of flexibility on the backend of the defense next fall.

Highlights

Scouting Report

Miller is another long corner with good speed and outstanding ball skills. He finished 5th in the pass happy Big 12 last fall in pass breakups with 9 to go along with his 31 tackles and an interception. He’s a former blue chip recruit who had a strong debut last fall for the Mountaineers. This is a big time addition for the Tigers.

The Class

Miller is the 2nd transfer to join the Tigers in the 2021 class. Earlier this year, former Northwestern defense end Andrew “Eku” Leota committed to the Tigers. I expect both transfers to challenge for starting spots on Auburn’s defense next fall.

The Tigers aren’t done either. With Miller’s commitment, Auburn is up to 20 commits in the 2021 class. Oscar Chapman’s scholarship counts towards that class as well leaving Auburn with four scholarships available. It would be a shock if at least one didn’t go towards an offensive tackle transfer this summer. The Tigers are also reportedly pursuing former Oregon starting quarterback Tyler Shough. I think you might also see the Tigers look at adding an inside linebacker if possible and maybe a running back with experience if one comes available.

Bottom line, Bryan Harsin is still working on improving this roster for 2021.
