One of the big questions in Auburn’s transition from 2020 to 2021 has been answered, and it’ll result in the Tigers having a little less firepower for Bryan Harsin in his first season.
Anthony Schwartz will enter the NFL Draft.

Flash will head to the draft after three seasons that contained highlights, but mostly a misuse of college football’s fastest player. Unfortunately, Gus Malzahn will be tagged with the responsibility, but Flash was underutilized from 2018-2020 when paired with both Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix.
He will finish his Auburn career with 13 total touchdowns in three seasons, and some nice numbers overall.
Sadly, he could’ve been the type of player that Jaylen Waddle turned out to be for Alabama, with the blazing speed and solid hands on the football field. He just never found his groove on the Auburn offense, as he was shoehorned into certain roles when he was on the field and couldn’t become the breakout superstar we expected.
Despite that, he finishes 10th all-time in Auburn history in receptions with 117, 17th in yardages with 1,433, but tied for 37th in touchdowns with only 6 through the air. He did add 7 rushing touchdowns to his total, however. Along with Eli Stove and Seth Williams, he was part of a trio that made up three of the top ten receivers in passes caught in Auburn history in 2020.
For the Tigers in 2021, the receiver lineup currently looks this way:
Eli Stove - rSR (eligible to return for one more year due to COVID)
Seth Williams - SR
Shedrick Jackson - SR
Ze’Vian Capers - SO
Kobe Hudson - SO
Elijah Canion - SO
Caylin Newton - rSR
There should be talent for Harsin to work with alongside whoever he brings in to coordinate the offense and coach the receivers, but having Schwartz’s gamebreaking talent would have been something special to see with a guy who’s highly regarded in making offenses work.
