#HeadBandSamir Strikes Again!
November 18, 2019 - Auburn Arena
Samir Doughty came into this game after scoring a career high 33 points in the win 3 days earlier against Cal State Northridge. But Samir Doughty would do something in this game that would get him much more attention than his 33-point outing.
The Tigers were hosting the Colgate Raiders, the defending Patriot League Champions, who had pushed Tennessee to the limit in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament. Colgate would go on to win the Regular Season title in the Patriot League last season making this performance even more impressive for the Tigers.
I thought this might be a bit of a challenge for the Tigers but that it.
Auburn got the first 7 points 88 seconds into the game, as the seniors Doughty, Danjel Purifoy and Austin Wiley got into the scoring sheet early. After Colgate got on the board, Purifoy came down and hit his 2nd 3 of the night to give Auburn a 10-2 lead.
And then Samir Doughty decided that he wanted to be #1 on SportsCenter Top Plays for the night.
Samir Doughty is on a mission this year. Also, shoutout to @Jacob_Hillman3 for going bananas ala yours truly the last few years. pic.twitter.com/OqzZpkvxLf

And it’s not the like who Samir did that was a scrub either. Jordan Burns was Colgate’s best player and had 32 points against the Vols in the NCAA Tournament game.
The Tigers poured it on in the 1st half shooting 63% from the field and ended the 1st half with a bang.
Hey @CollegeAndMag, here’s my Isaac Okoro (and Devan Cambridge) highlight. We’ll look back at this game tomorrow on the Tip-Off Countdown. pic.twitter.com/TWAQUxsxG2

Auburn led 54-21 at halftime as J’Von McCormick and Doughty outscored the Raiders in the 1st half (23-21).
Auburn kept the foot on the gas pedal to start the second half and a 14-0 run was capped off by this steal and dunk from Okoro to send the Jungle into a frenzy while others into a state of shock and disbelief.
Seeing my friends go absolutely bonkers after this makes me miss being in the @AUJungle even more. Truly the best part of my time in Auburn. pic.twitter.com/I2L5Q69xsl

The dunk gave Auburn a 71-26 lead with 16 minutes to go. Auburn would put in cruise control the rest of the way and everyone including the walk-ons got a chance to play in this one.
Samir Doughty led Auburn with 20 points and was 4-9 from 3-point range. J’Von McCormick had 14 points and 8 assists. Austin Wiley posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Isaac Okoro and Danjel Purifoy each scored 11 points.
Here are the highlights!
