“Someone Flipped a Switch”
November 14, 2018 - Auburn Arena
(Writer’s Note: I’ve fallen a few days behind and with this being a game against a Division 2 opponent, I made the executive decision to talk about this game today in addition to the Auburn/Washington game).
This was Auburn’s tune-up game before heading out to Maui to play in the prestigious Maui Invitational. Auburn led 48-29 but shot just 4-18 from 3. Auburn got off to a slow start in the 2nd half and there was a few anxious moments.
With 16:40 left in the game, Auburn had just a 53-41 lead and Bruce was not happy. (And who could blame him?) And then a switch flipped and reality set in.
Over the next 14:11, Auburn would embark on a 50-4 run. Yes, FIFTY TO FOUR!!
The end of the night saw dunks from Myles Parker, J’Von McCormick and of course, one for #ClassicMalik. Auburn would move to 3-0 on the young season as they headed to the Hawaiian Islands.
Austin Wiley got some good minutes to gain some confidence and led Auburn with 18 points and also had 7 rebounds, one of 6 Tigers in double figures. He was 8-10 from the free throw line drawing this tweet from fellow College And Mag writer James Jones.
If Austin Wiley shoots 80% from the stripe for the year, we can book tickets to the final four. https://t.co/Ko6QgUrKSh

How prophetic!!!
Bryce Brown had 16 points, Horace Spencer had 14 points and a career high 17 rebounds. Samir Doughty scored 13 points, Jared Harper had 12 while Malik Dunbar had 10 points and 8 rebounds. Auburn outrebounded Mississippi College 66-35 as Auburn big men had quite the evening.
Here are the highlights!
