LOCKED ON AUBURN: Auburn defeats Ole Miss as offense returns to life

NCAA Football: Auburn at Mississippi Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

On today’s Locked On Auburn, Zac Blackerby and Michael Pappas discuss Auburn’s first SEC road win against Ole Miss. Bo Nix returned to form, the offense clicked under Chad Morris, and the defense performed well against the lethal Ole Miss offense.

Pappas discussed Nix’s grade via PFF on the podcast. Here’s some of what he said.

Pappas: The big takeaway. I mean, I think really, it points to the offensive line. Also, Auburn’s team passing grade was an 89.0. And Bo Nix’s grade was a 90.9. I mean, this was the best game of Bo Nix’s career by far I thought and I think a lot of that is that he was comfortable.

I mean, even watching you could tell, I thought that he looked incredibly comfortable. I’m gonna sit here and be like, “Oh, this is nitpicking,” but if he stepped up in the pocket instead of like, running out the of the back and around when he felt pressure from the edge, I think we would all be sitting here and being like, well, Bo Nix is elite. And I know that that’s a huge step.

But the way that he played on Saturday is exactly what everyone thought we were getting out of Bo Nix when he was recruited. I thought that Chad Morris called a really good game. I thought that Bo looked super comfortable in the offense. The running backs both played really well. Sean Shivers and Tank Bigsby were both great. The offensive line we just talked about, I mean, this was a really good performance.
