100 Days to Tip-Off: Introduction

NCAA Basketball: Alabama at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Countdown Time Folks!

It’s been nearly 21 weeks since we last saw the Auburn Basketball team on the floor when they were raining 3s all over Tennessee in an 85-63 win inside Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. But hope is on the horizon.

Folks, we are quickly approaching the 100 day mark until the return of Auburn Basketball! Last year, I did a 50 part series leading up to basketball season looking back at the top 50 individual scoring outputs of the 21st Century. Looking back now, Samir Doughty would have found his way into that list a couple times with a few of his performances last season. While 50 was great last year, I wanted a bigger challenge this year, so this year we’re doing a 100 day countdown.

At this point, you’re probably wondering what the subject and it’s simple: we’re going to take a look back at the last 100 Auburn wins. We’ll look at highlights, reflect on memories from these games and hit the high points of what’s been an incredible few years of basketball on the Plains.

Auburn has won 99 games over the previous 4 seasons (the 100th is the final win of the 2015-2016 season). To put that into perspective, Auburn won just 100 games from the middle part of the 2008-2009 season to the 2015-2016 (all but 1 game). That’s 8 seasons. It speaks to the incredible job that Bruce has done turning this program completely around since arriving back in 2014. It’s hard to believe this will be his 7th season on the Plains.

You’ll see the first one of these drop on Sunday morning and my goal is to have one of these out every day up until the scheduled season opener on November 10th against North Alabama.

I realize that there is definitely a possibility that the start date of College Basketball gets delayed throwing this countdown in flux but I’m going to the be the optimistic one and hope for the best that we start College Basketball on time.

So get your popcorn ready as we get ready to go down memory lane and reflect on the collegiate careers of Jared Harper, Bryce Brown, Austin Wiley, Samir Doughty and so many others who have made their mark on this program over the school’s last 100 wins. It’s going to be a helluva ride!
