Auburn’s top cover corner is off to the NFL
When Auburn signed Noah Igbinoghene he was a 4* wide receiver prospect expected to develop into an offensive weapon in Gus Malzahn’s system. But after a freshman season that saw him only touch the field in garbage time, Igbinoghene agreed to experiment at cornerback the following spring, a position he had not played since middle school.
The experiment was an overwhelming success.
Now just two years later he’s off to the NFL Draft where he will likely hear his named called in late April.

Igbinoghene’s transformation from little used wide receiver to the team’s top cover corner is something you don’t see all that often. It’s a credit to not only Igbinoghene’s special athletic talent but also his mentality. He’s always been a hard worker who plays with relentless energy. This play from his senior year in high school always stood out to me and I think captures everything about Iggy as a football player.

Auburn will now have to replace four starters from their secondary with the graduation of Javaris Davis, Jeremiah Dinson and Daniel Thomas along with Iggy. The good news is Auburn does return a number of impact players who have seen significant time in the past two seasons plus have already signed an outstanding 2020 defensive back class. Still these will be big shoes to fill in 2020.
Best of luck Noah and War Eagle!
