4-Star Wide Receiver Ze’Vian Capers is Officially an Auburn Tiger

No recruit was probably happier about Chad Morris’s hire than his former top ranked pledge.

Life has a funny way of working out sometimes. 4* WR Ze’Vian Capers echoed those sentiments not long after Auburn announced Chad Morris’s hire as the new offensive coordinator.

Why would Capers feel this way? Well before he was an Auburn commit he was the top ranked member of Chad Morris’s 2020 class in Fayetteville.

In early February, Capers did not yet have an Auburn offer. He was well regarded but wasn’t yet considered a blue chip prospect (4* or higher). But that would soon change. After showing out during camp season later that spring, Auburn finally jumped into the race and offered in May. Things really accelerated between the two sides when Capers not only visited twice in one week in early June but also participated in a Junior Day camp where he reportedly was the top performer. A decommit and an official visit later, he had jumped Morris’s ship for Malzahn’s. Today, he joins both of them on the Plains.

Capers will add some size to Auburn’s wide receiving corps which loses Sal Cannella and Marquis Mclain next season. At just shy of 6’3” and weight 195 lbs, Capers is a big target capable of taking the top off a defense. He ran a laser timed 4.57 40-yard dash at The Opening in July and has put together 2 extremely productive season at Denmark High School.

My guess is you will see Capers at the 5 position which is where players like Duke Williams and Seth Williams (in 2018) have all had starring roles. Though given his explosiveness, Auburn could also work him behind Seth at the 9 spot in 2020. Either way, Capers is someone that has a chance to see the field early in his career.

War Eagle Ze’Vian!
