Auburn-Eckerd College Game Preview and Open Thread

NCAA Basketball: Washington at Auburn Julie Bennett-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Exhibition SEASON!

Auburn Arena will host a basketball game tonight.

It’s been a long 7 months reflecting on last season but it’s time to move on to this year and Bruce Pearl appears to have done the same.

By the way, isn’t that sign a THING OF BEAUTY??

Anyways, the Tigers will host Eckerd College tonight with the game beginning 30 minutes after the conclusion of Auburn’s volleyball game tonight.

The Tritons, out of St. Petersburg, Florida, play in the Sunshine State Conference. They finished last season at 19-10. Their leading returning scorer is forward Myron Hagins who averaged 11.7 points a game, 2nd on the team. Senior forward Kristiyan Stavrev, out of Bulgaria, is their next highest leading returning scorer who made and attempted the most 3-pointers on the Tritons last season. He was 38.7% from 3 and 142 of his 181 shots last year were from downtown.

As for Auburn, the hope is for a lot of guys to get minutes to get an idea of some of the rotations we’ll see this season. With 13 guys that can play, it will be interesting to see who plays together and how minutes are delegated although the hope would be to see the newcomers get more opportunities just to get some game action.

The game will be broadcasted on the Auburn Radio Network but unless something changes, it isn’t being televised or streamed. Our own Ryan Sterritt will be in attendance though to inform you of all of the happenings from Auburn Arena tonight!

If you’re in town for the Ole Miss football game, go to the basketball game and support these guys to get this season off to a good start. War Eagle!
