College & Mag Basketball All-Decade Team

NCAA Basketball: SEC Conference Tournament-South Carolina vs Auburn Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

As we come closer to the end of 2019, and therefore the decade, it’s time to look back at everything we’ve experienced as Auburn fans. Over the next few months, we at College and Mag are going to be taking some time to reflect with you all about the last ten years. The ups, the downs, and everything else on the roller coaster of Auburn Athletics.

Auburn got to the pinnacle in almost all of the major sports on campus. While the Tigers didn’t always win championships, football, men’s basketball, baseball, and softball all reached the championship setting of their sports, not to mention five equestrian national titles.

We’re going to consider this upcoming basketball season as the 2020 season, so with the days counting down to tip off, we thought it would be the perfect time to work out an All-Decade team. The rise of Auburn basketball from perennial bottom dweller to national title contender MIGHT just be the most surprising story line of the decade on the Plains, and no I’m not forgetting the Kick Six.

I’ve compiled a ballot which includes all (as far as I can tell) the players who were significant starters for Auburn basketball this decade. Will McLaughlin has actually been doing a great series for our countdown this year, so hopefully that has started jogging everyone’s memories of the Barbee and early Bruce years (sorry) and some of the players from those teams. On the ballot, you’ll be asked to vote for five guards and five forwards. This should give me enough data to build out a first and second All-Decade team.

With that being said, let’s get to voting!
