TOP TEN AUBURN: FanPulse Week 2

After winning in the biggest national matchup of the week, your Tigers are a top 10 team!

As much fun as week 1 was, nothing really happened in the top 10. For the most part, teams played severely overmatched opponents, and treated them as such. Luckily, this isn’t the AP Poll which is rigid for rigidity’s sake! Let’s see what happened in this week’s FanPulse rankings, voted on by YOU!

The top five stayed the same as last week, which shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. All five teams flexed their muscles as double digit favorites. LSU impressed with their new “Big 12 offense” behind the arm of Joe Burrow, and jumped up from 10 to 6.

The biggest gain was for the Tigers in orange and blue, though, which honestly surprises me. Auburn climbed from #18 to #8. Despite besting Oregon, Auburn didn’t look great doing it. Perhaps the clutch game winning touchdown and stellar defense won over enough people across the country, but like most Auburn fans, I’m a little wary of a top 10 ranking just yet.

The interesting part to me is that five different teams were ranked as high as 7th. There’s pretty clearly a top class of six teams right now, and a second tier consisting of Michigan, Auburn, Texas, Notre Dame, and Florida (and maybe Texas A&M).

There wasn’t much movement in outside of the top 10, sans Oregon falling back to #17 from #12. Somehow Nebraska hung on at #25 despite scoring fewer points on offense than South Alabama. On Scott Frost day no less!
