Auburn Equestrian First Ever Team to Go Undefeated; Wins 6th National Championship

In a dramatic finish, the Auburn Equestrian Team won their sixth national championship at the Extraco Events Center Waco, Texas Saturday. Usually dominating their opponents, the Tigers were in a tight battle with No. 6 Georgia. However, Auburn bested the Bulldogs 8-7 to complete their first ever undefeated season (18-0).

“This was different territory for us this year with it being so close,” head coach Greg Williams said. “Georgia has had a strong week so it was so unbelievable to see our team regroup, stay focused and pull off this win.”

Caitlin Boyle was named the Most Outstanding Performer for the championship in Fences, and freshman Taylor St. Jacques was NCEA’s Outstanding Performer in Flat.

The undefeated season was also the first time in history that ‘any’ equestrian  team has ever gone wire to wire undefeated. The win also marks the program’s third tile in the last four years and the sixth overall.

“This has never happened in the sport, so it shows how hard it is to go undefeated,” Williams said. “The [seniors] are a very special group,” Williams added. “And it’s evident in how their four years shaped up.”

The seniors finished their careers at Auburn with a 61-10 overall record, winning two SEC titrles, and three NCEA championships in four years.

Congratulation Tigers and War Eagle!
