Auburn Football Recruiting: Tigers Hosting Five Important Official Visitors This Weekend

4* RB Jamious Griffin

The push to National Signing Day begins now.

Today, the dead period ends and coaches can once again hit the road to visit their top targets on the trail. It also means that for the month of January, recruits can take official visits to their top schools of choice. Auburn is wasting no time getting guys on campus.

This weekend, Auburn is expected to host 5 official visitors as they gear up for a final push to close out this potential top 10 class. Last year, Auburn hosted a large number of official visitors the first weekend as well and it led to the commitment of Harold Joiner. Can the Tigers duplicate that success again in 2019?

Here’s a quick rundown on who is expected on campus this weekend.

4* RB Jamious Griffin | 5’10” | 205 lbs | Rome, GA | NC State Commit

The most prolific rusher in GA high school football history will take his OV to the Plains this weekend. Griffin earned an offer from the Tigers in early December and has quickly become a top target for this coaching staff. Auburn would like to sign one more running back to pair with DJ Williams in the 2019 class. They sit in a good spot currently with 4* ATH Mark-Antony Richards but you could feasibly take him as an athlete if you wanted to also bring Griffin on as well. Georgia Tech is a team to watch in this race considering his older brother signed with the Yellow Jackets last cycle. As of today, I don’t see him landing with Auburn but that could change after this weekend.

3* ATH Jammie Robinson | 5’11” | 196 lbs | Leesburg, GA

If you are into DBs that can take a ball carriers head off then Robinson is the dude for you. One of the best athletes in the state of Georgia, Robinson has long been a target for the Tigers. He was previously at Crisp County High School where he would take visits with teammates Big Kat Bryant and Quay Walker so he knows Auburn’s campus well. This weekend will be more on Auburn trying to sell the big time athlete on their vision of him in the Tigers’ defensive scheme. Auburn likes him at the nickel where he’s combination of quickness and physicality could be a real asset. Most believe this is a Kentucky/South Carolina battle but the Tigers could make a big push in the coming days. It seems clear Auburn wants one more DB in this class.

3* DL Jamond Gordon | 6’4” | 268 lbs | Meridian, MS

A familiar face will be on campus again this weekend. The former Ole Miss commit, turned Auburn commit, turned uncommitted prospect is still being hunted by the Tigers. Gordon decommitted Early Signing Day eve and the belief is the home state Rebels are once again the team to beat for his services. But Rodney Garner has long been high on Gordon and I think would love to have him back in the class if possible. I think that’s doubtful at this point but hard to ever count Garner out on the trail.

3* OG Kamaar Bell | 6’3” | 320 lbs | Moultry, GA

Bell has become one of Auburn’s most important targets in this class. After the Tigers struck out on both 5* Clay Webb and 4* William Putnam, the Georgia native has now become a must sign for Auburn in this class. The big man was once thought to be a Gator lean but that appears to have changed after Florida loaded up on lineman in December. Florida State is now the other team to watch as after also striking out on Putnam they extended an offer to Bell in late December. The Tigers are probably the team to beat right now but that last visit to FSU looms large. The staff will attempt to build an insurmountable lead in this recruitment this weekend.

3* LB Octavius Brothers | 6’2” | 210 lbs | Rockledge, FL

The former UCF commit is one of my favorite Auburn targets left in this class. Brothers is a big time athlete who did a little of everything for his high school program. Travis Williams started recruiting Brothers during the season and after only signing one linebacker in December, has ramped up his efforts even further. He recently listed a top 4 of Auburn, Miami, North Carolina and Ole Miss but Georgia Tech is also making a late push. Personally, I think he ends up a Tiger and one of the steals of the class.

War Eagle!
