Hugh Freeze Accepts Liberty Head Coach Positio

Former Ole Miss Coach Hugh Freeze has accepted the head coaching position at Liberty University. He had been under consideration for the offensive coordinator position at Auburn. Freeze’s daughter attends Auburn and for a short while it looked like he might consider joining his old friend Gus Malzahn on the Plains.

He was the number one choice of our members taking a poll here at Track ‘em Tigers. In a 10 man field he garnered close to two thirds of the votes. Liberty has scheduled a 2 p.m. ET press conference to introduce him as the Flames new coach.

Known as a good offensive mind, Freeze was 39-25 in Oxford and was the first Rebel coach to take the Rebels to four straight bowl games including two New Year’s Day Six games. His 10-3 record in 2015 was the first 10 win season for the Rebels in 34 years.

The wait at Auburn to see who Malzahn will bring on board continues. Will the new man be in place before the Tigers’ December 28 bowl game against Purdue?
