Auburn to Play Purdue in Music City Bowl

Nashville, get your boots on.

Looks like it’s all but official — Auburn will play Purdue in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on December 28th.

What do we know about the Boilermakers? Well, they beat Ohio State by about forty points in West Lafayette earlier this year, and their entire season has been bolstered by the inspiring story of Tyler Trent, a fan stricken with cancer. Those are just the surface level observations, as the Boilers will provide an interesting challenge despite the 6-6 record.

Purdue played three ranked teams this year and beat all three (two of them by a combined 46 points), but then lost to Eastern Michigan and began the season 0-3. It’s been a true Jekyll and Hyde season, but it’s also been one with moments that made head coach Jeff Brohm into one of the hottest coaching candidates for other jobs.

The 49-20 win against Ohio State back in October was probably the reason that the Buckeyes got left out of the Playoff, but that was by far the most consistent that the Boilermakers have been all year. It was an impressive outing, and Auburn will have to contend with the play-making ability of receiver Rondale Moore, who caught more than 100 passes this season.

Kickoff comes on December 28th, 12:30 CST from Nashville. We’ll have more on the Boilers soon! War Eagle!
