Where Auburn is projected in NCAA Tournament after winning SEC title


Auburn wrapped up its regular-season slate on Saturday, capping a wire-to-wire run atop the SEC with a 79-70 win against South Carolina to clinch a share of the league crown -- the Tigers' third ever and first in 19 years.

Auburn (25-6, 13-5 SEC) earned the No. 1 seed in this week's SEC Tournament in St. Louis and will enjoy a double-bye before playing the winner of Alabama-Texas A&M on Friday at noon.

With Selection Sunday less than a week away, here's a sampling of where national experts project Auburn to be seeded in the NCAA Tournament:

-- ESPN's Joe Lunardi has Auburn as a No. 3 seed in the South Region playing 14th-seeded Charleston in the first round in Dallas.

-- CBS Sports' Jerry Palm also has Auburn as the No. 3 seed in the South Region and playing in Dallas the opening weekend. The Tigers play 14-seed Bucknell in this bracket.

-- USA Today's Shelby Mast has Auburn as the No. 3 seed in the South Region and playing 14th-seeded UNC Greensboro in the first round.

-- Sports Illustrated has Auburn as the No. 3 seed in the West Region and playing 14th-seeded Buffalo in the first round of the tournament.

-- RealTimeRPI.com has Auburn has the No. 2 seed in the South Region and playing UC Davis, a 15-seed, in the first round.

-- Yahoo Sports has Auburn as a No. 3 seed on its big board. This projection has Auburn as the third-ranked No. 3 seed, behind Tennessee and Cincinnati.

-- SB Nation has Auburn as the No. 3 seed in the South Region, playing 14th-seeded Bucknell in the first round in Dallas.
