Auburn's Eli Stove expected to return from ACL tear this fall

Eli Stove is expected to play for Auburn this fall despite an tearing his right anterior cruciate ligament this spring.

The Auburn junior wide receiver, who tore his right ACL during the final practice before spring break, had surgery and attended Thursday's practice.

"We expect him to return next season," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said, "and possibly even early."

Malzahn would not commit to a specific date for when Stove could return or if he'd be able to return by the start of the season, reiterating that the receiver is expected to play this fall.

Stove worked primarily with the first-team offense during the first two weeks of spring practice.

He had 29 receptions for 265 yards and 30 carries for 315 yards and two touchdowns last season.
