We Meet Again, Mr. Lindsey
Chip Lindsey met with the media after today’s practice (the third of fall camp). Let’s get you the goods without making you wait too long.

Check out the first team offensive line in the above link. I’m pretty good with what I’m reading there, and it’s interesting that both transfers (Dunn/Bell) got into the second team, although Bell did take a few reps with the first team. Don’t be surprised if Bell ends up grabbing a starting job like he had at Florida State last year.

And there you’ll see the note about Carlson trying some snaps at punter. It’s a possibility that we discussed in our look at special teams, but hopefully not an avenue that Auburn’s got to explore.
As for the new offensive coordinator, Chip Lindsey met with the media. Here’s the rundown:

Just reading the limited reports we’ve got from the open media viewing windows, it sounds like Jarrett Stidham’s taking the reins fairly early on at quarterback. He worked with the first team while White took second team snaps today. As for nailing down guys at other positions, you’ve got to like the energy with which the younger guys are coming along. Hearing that Barrett and Iggy are showing out early means that they’ll only push guys at their positions to be better. If Lindsey’s still looking for a third option at running back, Barrett may warrant some good playing time if Malik Miller isn’t totally ready yet. Kam Martin obviously has the speed, but we may see him relegated to more of a McCalebb role due to his all-out speed.
Like we noted above, the presence of some tested transfers on the offensive line in Bell and Dunn really, really helps shore things up. I know Auburn had a pretty good line set, but getting those two just makes everyone breathe a little easier.
Now if we could just get some depth in the defensive backfield. Overall, smooth third day of practice, and good to get a little more insight on the offense. We’re all excited to see what Lindsey can cook up, especially against that Venables defense come the second week of the season.
Auburn won’t have practice open to the media until Saturday, when the Tigers go to full pads for the first time. Gus Malzahn will speak afterward, so that’ll glean some nice things once guys are going full speed with contact. Until then, War Eagle!
