Auburn Baseball vs Tennessee Series Preview and How to Watch

The Tigers are still on the road as they begin a late-week series against the Volunteers in Knoxville.

Auburn is back on the road again this weekend following their first series loss and a marathon game against Samford in Birmingham. They beat the Bulldogs, but it was quite the game that lasted over 4 hours and had a 16-15 final score.

After all of that, the Tigers look to get back to their play from the first few series in SEC play as they take on the Vols. Tennessee is coming off a series victory at home over the Florida Gators last weekend. That's after dropping their first three series of the SEC schedule. They were swept by South Carolina and Mississippi State and lost 2 of 3 to UGA.

Auburn continues with Casey Mize in the opening night spot and Keegan Thompson pitching the second night after Keegan returned to the rotation following a week off. Davis Daniel stays in the final rotation spot. Tennesee is throwing their ace pitcher against Keegan Friday night.

When it comes to hitting, Tennesee's numbers look a bit stronger than Auburn's. The Tigers' pitching definitely looks to be an advantage, though. Auburn will hope to keep the bats going as strong as they did against Samford Tuesday night when they put up 16 runs. That game saw Jay Estes, Daniel Robert, Conor Davis, and Jonah Todd continue slugging the ball well. The Tigers did a good job of not leaving runners stranded in that game and need to continue that in this series against the Vols.

With the Vols' SEC record, this is almost a must-win series for the Tigers to keep their high spot in the rankings and in the RPI to hopefully set up a home regional. It's still very much a possibility.
