News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

BASKETBALL

The official site had a feature on Anfernee McLemore and his inside presence helping the team. That was posted before last night's game and it turned out to be a pretty prescient article since he was a dominant force at times last night.

Nothing is ever easy for Auburn Basketball, is it? The Tigers jumped out to a 20 point halftime lead. At one point in the 2nd half, the lead was at 21. Then, of course, the Tigers let the opposing team come back into it. The final minutes of that game were the worst I've ever seen in my life. Auburn still managed to win 98-92 over CLANGA, though, so that's at least something.

Drew put up an early edition of This Week in Auburn Hoops this week! Hence the reason the Link Dump is a bit later than normal. I try not to have too many articles post too closely in time. Make sure you read it for some good explanations on why Auburn gives up big leads.

SOFTBALL

The ladies are ready to begin the 2017 season, and they'll do it in Mexico. They open with two games this Thursday against ranked teams who were in the NCAA Tournament last year in Oklahoma and Washington.

FOOTBALL

In "unexpected" news, the Tigers have relieved TE/Special Teams coach Scott Fountain of his duties. Fountain will move to an off-field role until/unless he finds an on-field position elsewhere. I suspect this largely has to do with a deal made where Chip Lindsey could bring in at least one of his own position coaches.

Auburn's biggest challenge this offseason may be replacing Carl Lawson on defense. It took all I could do not to do a #SavedAClick response to the initial tweet of that article. I can't find it now for some reason but it was one of those "Why is Auburn's biggest challenge replacing Carl Lawson?" type things. To which the response is: just look at how Auburn fared in 2014 and 2015 on defense without him.

Sean White is optimistic that he'll be ready to go by Spring. I'm not holding my breath on that one, but it's good that he feels like he can make it. I just worry he'll try to rush things because he thinks he needs to get more time in the competition with Jarrett Stidham.
