NumerAUlogy — 31 Days

oh if only it was a 79-yard touchdown

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#31 — Trent Fisher

Game — Auburn vs Alabama A&M, November 17, 2012

Oh you thought we were done with 2012? Sadly we are not. How in the world does a season with so few touchdowns get on this list this many times? Random pick-6’s against SWAC teams will do this I guess.

I’m not really sure why this ball was thrown, but let’s not get too deep in the weeds on why something does or doesn’t happen in a 44-7 game between a 2-8 SEC team and a bad SWAC team.

Congrats to Trent Fisher though. The guy came in with an easily recognizable name, but always drew rave reviews from his coaches and worked his way into the playing rotation, no matter how bad that 2012 team was.

#31 still resides on the defensive side of the ball, where it belongs to returning linebacker Chandler Wooten. Wooten may not be a starter this year, but he we assuredly be part of the primary rotation, so we have a decent shot at another defensive touchdown for 31.
