Javaris Davis puts the capper on a blowout

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#13 — Javaris Davis, DB

Game — Auburn vs Mississippi State, September 30, 2017

Auburn was fully in control of this one by the time the fourth quarter started, but a Kerryon Johnson 1-yard touchdown began to put the game away. Rod Bramblett even said “the Tigers may have just iced this one.” Just moments later, Javaris Davis left no doubt:

Auburn wasn’t even done scoring there. Malik Willis would pull on a zone read and race untouched for a 67-yard touchdown later in the fourth quarter. This one ended in a 49-10 laugher that served as Dan Mullen’s last game against Auburn as Mississippi State’s head coach.

Just as with #14, 13 is currently held by a backup quarterback and a DB. Though this time the quarterback is a walk-on, Trey Lindsey, and the DB is a returning contributor in Ladarious Tennison.
