As I mentioned in Wednesday’s novel, these official visitor lists are constantly in flux. At the time it looked like the Tigers might only have at most 4 visitors on campus this weekend. However, Auburn has since added one more name to list and there are rumors a 6th could be on campus too. For now, I’ll stick with the five that have been confirmed as official visitors arriving today.
4-star RB TreVonte’ Citizen | 6’0” | 217 lbs | Lake Charles, LA
Recruitment
I was surprised to see that Citizen would be in Auburn this weekend. The 11th ranked RB in the 2022 class per 247 Composite is viewed by most as a major LSU lean. Even more so after LSU lost out on fellow instate 4-star RB Le’Veon Moss. The other two top contenders with Citizen have been Texas and Texas A&M but Auburn will get their shot over the next 3 days. Getting him out of the boot will be very difficult but Carnell Williams is doing a great job getting big time talent on campus this month. Now it’s about getting a kid to jump on board.
Scouting Report
Citizen is one of my favorite backs in this class. He’s a smooth back capable of changing directions quickly without losing speed. At 6’0” 217 lbs, he’s also powerful enough to run through arm tackles and handle the beating of running between the tackles in the SEC. He’s got great burst, allowing him to explode through open holes or break free if he sees some green grass. It’s clear this staff wants a RB room full of 5’10” - 6’1” dudes weighing 200+ lbs that can move well laterally and aren’t afraid to get hit. Citizen checks all those boxes.
4-star OLB Trevion Williams | 6’4” | 250 lbs | Crystal Springs, MS

A lot is understandably made about Auburn’s inability to recruit and develop offensive tackles. What gets overlooked is that Auburn’s ability to sign and develop edge rushers is about the same. That’s why someone like Trevion Williams is such an important target for the Tigers. The big time athlete out of Mississippi was one of the first guys at the top of Bert Watt’s board when he was hired. Williams has since blown up this spring but this race appears to be shaping up to be an Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss battle. The Tigers really need to win this race.
Scouting Report
Instead of asking what position Williams played in high school, the better question would be what position he didn’t play. He’s played QB, RB, WR TE, MLB and now DE for his high school over his career. He’s got one of the more unique highlight tapes you’ll see this cycle. This is the first year though he’s focused heavily on being an edge player and in just a short amount of time he’s blossoming into one of the top pass rushers in this class. He’s a tremendous athlete who will likely need a year or two development before being ready to see action. But he’s the perfect fit for that rush end position in Derek Mason’s scheme.
3-star WR/S Ja’Kobi Albert | 6’0” | 175 lbs | Fairfield, AL

One of the very first players Derek Mason offered after being named Auburn’s new defensive coordinator was Ja’Kobi Albert. The do it all athlete out of Fairfield, AL is just a few points away from 4-star status on 247 Composite and is being recruited by a number of top programs including Alabama, Maryland, Michigan, and Kentucky. Unless Alabama decides to offer, the Cats are likely Auburn’s top competition. Albert could also flip over and play wide receiver at the next level if needed. As of today, I like where the Tigers stand in his recruitment.
Scouting Report
Albert had an excellent junior campaign compiling over 850 yards of all purpose yards, scoring 9 touchdowns, recording 29 tackles, and picking off a pass. He’s got excellent top end speed that makes him a HR threat with the ball in his hands. As a defender, he’s at his best coming down hill to help out in the run game or take off the head of a crossing wide receiver. Will need to work on his lateral quickness to improve his coverage ability at the next level. While not as big, he reminds me somewhat of Jamien Sherwood in his ability to make plays all over the field in a variety of different ways.
3-star CB Marcus Allen | 6’2” | 165 lbs | Marietta, GA
Recruitment
Auburn offered Allen in January and he’s since emerged as a high priority recruit for a number of programs most notably UNC. The lanky defensive back has an older brother that plays at Georgia Tech and he took an official visit there earlier this month. He’ll be at AU this weekend and UNC the following week. He’s also already taking an official visit to Pittsburgh and is reportedly hoping to get to Ann Arbor before the month is over. Allen has never been to the Plains so this will be his first chance to check out what Auburn has to offer. I think the Tar Heels are the team to beat right now but Auburn has a great chance to make a move this weekend.
Scouting Report
What I like about Allen’s tape is he’s asked to do a lot of things. He’s got great length and good speed that allows him to be successful in man coverage but he also has plenty of experience working in zone. For a defensive back, he has excellent hands and shows a knack for winning jump balls. He’ll need to fill out his frame at the next level but he’s got a great chance to be an impact player.
3-star WR Jay Fair | 5’11” | 182 lbs | Rockwall, TX
Recruitment
Fair’s rating doesn’t really align with his offer list. His top group consists of Auburn, Florida, TCU, and Texas A&M but he also holds offers from the likes of Georgia, Miami, and Notre Dame. He’s one of the fastest prospects in this class and is coming off an incredibly productive junior season where he caught 73 passes for 1,310 yards and 13 touchdowns. A decision is likely to come in July. TCU is the presumed favorite but don’t sleep on the Tigers.
Scouting Report
He’s not that big but he’s very difficult to catch. Fair does a lot of his work down the field consistently leaving DBs in the dust on go routes and double moves. He’s also a weapon on special teams where he can break free if he gets a crease. The Texan could play the Z of H in Harsin’s offense and would likely see some touches as a rusher on some sweeps. Easy to see why he sports such a long offer list.
