Welcome to the Party! That’s how I would describe this one for all of those in attendance.
There’s nothing better on a Friday night than spending it inside Auburn Arena getting ready for a Top 25 matchup. It was the first time that a pair of Top 25 teams were set to face off inside Auburn Arena as the Washington Huskies made the trip east for a huge early season showdown. This was a great opportunity to see the Tigers go up against one of the better teams from the West Coast.
And oh yeah... I forgot to share the intro video for the 2018-2019 season and I must because it’s SO good.

Auburn was going to prominently face the patented 2-3 Zone as the Huskies are coached by Jim Boeheim disciple Mike Hopkins which means.... open 3-point shots. And let’s just say... they fell early and often for Auburn.
Washington would get the opening basket but that was the only time they led in this ballgame. Chuma Okeke got the party started with a 3-pointer and then had a putback dunk on the next possession after a steal and missed layup from Auburn’s defense.
Auburn would force another turnover on the next possession leading to a 3 from Bryce Brown.
Moments later, we would see the long awaited return of Austin Wiley to the lineup. Wiley would receive a huge ovation from the crowd.

On his first possession of offense, the Tigers made sure to get him the ball and he got in the scoring column with a hook shot which brought a huge roar inside Auburn Arena and an early 14-2 lead.
Auburn led 24-14 halfway through the 1st half before Samir Doughty knocked down consecutive 3-pointers to join the scoring party. Anfernee McLemore and Bryce Brown would hit 3s of their own as Auburn built a 36-16 lead with 7 minutes left in the 1st half.
Auburn led 48-30 at halftime.
The Tigers kept the foot on the gas pedal getting out to a 54-30 lead early behind 2 free throws from Chuma Okeke and 2 steals leading to layups for Samir Doughty.
The highlight of the game came with about 16 minutes left to go as Auburn led 59-32. It’s time for #ClassicMalik.

Auburn would lead by 30 for the first time on the night moments later on a 3 from Jared Harper, their biggest lead of the game.
While the 3s were falling in this one, Auburn went to the paint quite a bit in the 2nd half as they looked to get Austin Wiley involved. No matter what Auburn did, Washington just had no answer for them.
Auburn would win by 22 (and it wasn’t that close) while making a statement to the country that this team was for real in 2018-2019.
Chuma Okeke led Auburn with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Samir Doughty had 18 points and 4 steals. Jared Harper and Bryce Brown each had 13 points.
This was a fun one so enjoy the highlights!
