Top Buck Target Sets Commit Date

A very important AU target is ready to announce his decision.

With fall camp in full swing and high school football underway in many states in the southeast, recruiting has slowed down in recent weeks. However, that could soon be changing.

Yesterday, the NCAA announced that the dead period would extend until January 1st effectively ending any chance coaches will be able to meet with prospects on campus this fall. There’s been no news about the early signing period being pushed so there’s a very realistic chance many recruits will be signing with programs they never officially visited, some stepping on campus for the first time when they enroll.

Many folks have speculated that once the NCAA made a decision on the dead period extension commitments would start rolling in as kids attempt to lock down their spots. That theory looks to have some validity. This morning, long time Auburn BUCK target 4-star Jeremiah Williams announced on Twitter he will be committing on October 10th.

Difficult to understate the importance of this decision for the Tigers. Auburn has already missed on one of their top pass rush targets this class in Dylan Brooks. Losing out on Williams would be a monster blow to what has been a very good class to date. The good news is all the buzz is for Auburn as of late with the Tigers holding all the selections on 247’s Crystal Ball and RivalsCast.

Florida is considered Auburn’s toughest competition and there are some who believe the Gators would have been the choice earlier this summer. His mom, however, is very keen on Scooby staying instate to play for the Tigers so the fact the Gators can’t get her on campus now really hurts their chances. Oklahoma was another team who had made a positive impression on the standout pass rusher but if Gainesville is too far for momma then you know Norman would be. That’s why I am keeping a close eye on UGA. The Dawgs recently lost their top pass rusher in the 2021 class and have been quietly working hard behind the scenes to make a move on Williams. I still think the Tigers will be the pick but this will be a battle up until his signature.

War Eagle!
