So there have been a lot of Auburn fans on ‘The Price is Right’

In April 2018, Madison Prewett — that Madison Prewett — won $8,000 on the “The Price is Right” by matching grocery store items to their correct prices, like you do.

But the “Bachelor” beauty was just the latest in a long line of Auburn students, alumni and plain ol’ fans who have come on down over the past 15 or so years. Most have done pretty well for themselves, and most leave little doubt as to where their football loyalties lie.

In 2016, during the show’s first College Rivalry episode, Auburn University theater grad Melanie Brown actually slipped in a “Kick Six” reference after sending Alabama grad Adam Englehard immediately back to his seat having coming closest to the actual retail price of some UnderArmour shoes.

“Sorry, that was a quick trip up here, man,” host Drew Carey told the bested Bama fan. “He comes up, makes his bid, back to his seat.”

“It only takes one second,” Brown, who actually wound up winning the Showcase Showdown, told Carey.

Brown went on to beat a Harvard grad in the final Showcase Showdown, taking home $31,000.

Bama got a measure of revenge (in the form of more total prizes) on last year’s rivalry episode. But 1983 Auburn grad Glenda Tamblyn still managed to get in a “War Eagle” after greeting Carey.

In 2014, while in California for the BCS National Championship Game between Auburn and Florida State, Auburn grad Megan Sumners led the audience in a long, loud “War Eagle” before winning a Volkswagen Jetta.

Auburn grad turned sports broadcaster Lindsay McCormick made it on stage a few weeks later.

Carey actually seems to have a soft spot for the Tigers. “They raise’em smart at Auburn,” he told Auburn-shirt wearing Brenda from Eclectic, Alabama before she walked away with a new sailboat and Jamaican vacation in 2012. 

Huntsville news anchor Chase Gallimore won the Showcase Showdown (donned in Auburn attire) as an Auburn student in 2005, back when Bob Barker still held the mic.

Auburn graduate Brittany Fletcher also made the Barker-era big leagues in 2005, winning the Showcase Showdown on her 18th birthday. She went on to compete on Season 21 of CBS’ “Amazing Race.” 

But the earliest Auburn-affiliated “Price is Right” success story I can find is Will Gaither, who while a junior at Auburn in 2002 returned to the Plains with nearly $40,000 worth of winnings.
