Never too late to look back at 5 of the best plays from Auburn’s win over Georgia!

I’m a little late getting this up but it’s never too late to look back at an Auburn win over Georgia, in any sport.

Several guys had great plays and performances and it was hard to narrow this down to 5 but I tried to pick 5 of the best/most significant plays from Saturday’s contest.

Play #1 - Anfernee McLemore “Wokens” Auburn Arena

Once again, Auburn got off to a slow start, scoring just 6 points in the first 7 ¹⁄₂ minutes. Anfernee McLemore gave the team a spark with this jam that really got the offense going. And as Jimmy Dykes said on the broadcast, from that point on, Auburn Arena and the Jungle was “Woken.”

Play #2 - A Friendly Roll for #HeadBandSamir

Samir had struggled over his last few games but bounced back in a big way on Saturday. He led Auburn with 17 points including this nifty lay-up to put Auburn ahead. Georgia would momentarily re-take the lead after this but Auburn would soon regain the lead and take complete control of the game.

Play #3 - Jamal Johnson gets his 1st SEC points!

Bench production was a story going into this game as it hadn’t done much in SEC play, besides Anfernee McLemore’s 14 points in the 1st half against Vanderbilt. Saturday was a different story.

Auburn’s bench: 34 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 65 percent shooting.

Jamal Johnson had gone scoreless against Miss State and Vanderbilt and really needed a 3 to go down to get some confidence. He set this play up after it nearly ended in a turnover by saving the ball inbounds, getting open in the corner and good ball movement led to Johnson drilling a corner 3-pointer. He had a pair of 3s in this game.

Play #4 - A Career-Best Day for Allen Flanigan!

As I mentioned above, bench production was sorely lacking going into Saturday. Allen Flanigan had just scored 3 points in the first 2 SEC games. He had 9 in the 1st half, eclipsing his career-high of 8 against Furman. He would finish with 12 for the game, including a pair of 3-pointers. Here Isaac Okoro finds him cutting to the basket and while Okoro delivers a nice pass, Flanigan is able to finish with a basket which closed out the scoring for Auburn in the 1st half.

Also, shotout to Allen Flanigan! He had a career high 12 points (it was 8) and doubled his career 3-pointers from 2 to 4 Saturday. But this was just excellent from both Okoro and Flanigan as Allen gets the basket late in the 1st half. Like Johnson, great to see this! pic.twitter.com/78POvYl36T

From Play 1 to Play 4, Auburn went on a 29-6 scoring run to build a 15 point lead. Georgia would make 4 free throws to close out the half as Auburn led 35-24 at halftime.

In the 2nd half, Auburn would build their lead and it got to a point where it became a dunkfest which leads me to the last play I’ll show:

This week will be Auburn’s most challenging so far this season: going to both Alabama and Florida. If they are able to win both, they would match the 1998-1999 team that started out 17-0, the best start in school history. War Eagle!
