Wide Receiver Marquis McClain Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Samford at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Not a huge shocker

Tis the season of transfers. Earlier this afternoon, redshirt freshman linebacker Michael Harris somewhat surprisingly announced his intention to leave the Plains. This evening, redshirt junior wideout Marquis McClain joined him.

This decision comes as no surprise. The former 3* prospect out of Crestview, FL just never could crack the rotation. He was apart of a highly touted 2016 WR class that included Nate Craig-Myers, Kyle Davis and Eli Stove. Only one member of that class remains.

McClain saw action in only 10 games in 2019 catching one pass for 37 yards vs Samford just two weeks ago. He leaves Auburn with a degree and one year of eligibility left. He’s the exact type of player the grad transfer rule was originally created to serve. Hopefully he finds an opportunity where he can make an impact in 2020.

Best of luck Marquis!

War Eagle!
