Basketball Non-Conference Schedule Finalized!

NCAA Basketball: Final Four-Semifinals-Virginia vs Auburn Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

How does the Final Four defense begin?

Did you know... that last season was the best year for Auburn basketball ever?

Second-straight SEC Championship (first Tournament Title in 34 years) and a Final Four, as well as wins over Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky will provide the framework for a pretty solid season under anyone’s opinion.

Now we get to see how the 2019-2020 basketball schedule will begin, since the non-conference portion of the slate has been completed!

Here’s the rundown:

11/1 vs Eckerd (Exh.)

11/5 vs Georgia Southern

11/8 vs Davidson (Veterans Classic; Annapolis, MD)

11/12 @ South Alabama

11/15 vs Cal-State Northridge (Legends Classic Campus Site)

11/18 vs Colgate (Legends Classic Campus Site)

11/25 vs New Mexico (Legends Classic; Brooklyn, NY)

11/26 vs Richmond/Wisconsin (Legends Classic; Brooklyn, NY)

12/5 vs Furman

12/14 vs Saint Louis (Mike Slive Invitational; Birmingham, AL)

12/19 vs NC State

12/21 vs Lehigh

12/29 vs Lipscomb

1/25 vs Iowa State (Big 12/SEC Challenge)

We knew about several of these games beforehand, like the Big 12/SEC Challenge game against the Cyclones, and the return trip from NC State after Auburn went to Raleigh last year. We were also aware of the Legends Classic opponents, but we got the new additions of Saint Louis in the Mike Slive Invitational. The Billikens (what a mascot) won the A-10 Tournament last year and got a bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to Virginia Tech in the opening round. They’re also coached by former Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford.

Auburn’s non-conference slate isn’t quite as impressive as the one they had last year with the Maui Invitational Field, but there are still a couple of marquee games, and some good quality mid-major squads as well. Mark your calendars for that game against CSUN on 11/15, since that’ll be the precursor to a big victory the next day on the gridiron over Georgia. Huge weekend on the Plains, and a big bit of news from the hardcourt as we get into the first official month of football season. War Eagle!
