Jarrett Stidham to Forego Senior Season

Looks like the Auburn quarterback will declare for the NFL Draft.

Welp. Gotta get a new quarterback.

According to reports, it seems that Jarrett Stidham will not be the quarterback at Auburn next year. He’ll declare for the NFL Draft, where he was ranked as one of the top prospects before the season began.

We’ll see if there’s more information regarding his status for the bowl game soon, but for now it appears as if the Music City Bowl against Purdue may be his final time suiting up in the orange and blue.

Through his two seasons as Auburn’s starting quarterback, he went 17-9 as a starter, won the SEC West and beat two #1 teams in 2017, and helped Ryan Davis become the all-time receptions leader in Tiger history.

Here are his numbers through two years on the Plains

  • Record as starter: 17-9
  • Completion percentage: 455-718 (63.4%)
  • Passing Yards: 5579 yards
  • Touchdown/Interception ratio: 31 TDs/11 INTs
  • Rushing Yards: 148 yards
  • Total Touchdowns: 7 rushing TDs

This season it became evident that maybe Gus Malzahn’s offense and Jarrett Stidham’s skill set didn’t quite match up, despite winning a division title and coming within a win of the Playoff in 2017. With the news breaking today, it also adds a little more texture to the Kelly Bryant decision that comes tonight at 6 pm CST. We’ll see if Auburn loses a quarterback and gains a quarterback in the same day.

Either way, best of luck to Jarrett Stidham as he heads off to the professional ranks!

More to come, War Eagle!
