Get to Know Saint Peter’s...

The Peacocks, out of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association, come to Auburn with a 1-4 record. They are coached by former Seton Hall great Shaheen Holloway, in his first season with the program. The Peacocks were picked 10th out of 11 teams in the MAAC. They played one of Auburn’s upcoming opponents in North Carolina State earlier this year and fell 85-57. In terms of players, they are led by senior guard Davauhnte Turner, who is averaging 19.4 points a game so far for the Peacocks. The other double figure scorer for Saint Peter’s is forward Samuel Idowu, averaging 14.4 points a game. They are giving up almost 80 points a game so far in this young season.

What to Look for from Auburn...

This team learned a lot from their experience in Maui that can only help them going forward. The goal for Auburn in Maui was 2 wins and they did just that. Now, it’s time for Auburn to put Maui behind them and move towards the next part of their non-conference schedule. This game (and the next one against UNC Asheville) will be great opportunities to refine some things. I really hope tonight is a bounce back game for Samir Doughty who had a rough time while in Hawaii. Another player I hope to see get going again is Chuma Okeke. While Bill Walton fell in love with saying Chuma “Zuma,” Maui was not Okeke’s best offensive stretch, especially after starting the season firing on all cylinders. It’s also another night for Austin Wiley to get more comfortable in the offense. Of the 9 players that played against Arizona last Wednesday night, Wiley actually got the fewest minutes on the team. All of these things would be positive steps for Auburn against an overmatched opponent.

Score Prediction

As I’ve already said, this looks like a game that Auburn should win handily. The Peacocks are not the best offensive team and we’ve already mentioned their defensive struggles. This looks like another game where Bruce Pearl will be able to empty his bench at the end of it. Auburn 94 Saint Peter’s 57
