Auburn to play in 2019 Legends Classic

As this year’s version of Auburn Basketball prepares to participate in the Maui Invitational beginning on Monday, we now know where Auburn will play next November.

So while the team spends the week of Thanksgiving in Hawaii this year, it looks like Brooklyn will be Auburn’s Thanksgiving destination next year. The Legends Classic is annually played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. And I’ll be honest: after this year, this will definitely be considered a letdown to many Auburn fans but with most other tournaments announcing their fields for next year, this looked like one of Auburn’s best options from what was left. New Mexico should have a solid team next year. As for Richmond, I would expect the Spiders to have a new coach this time next year as they have struggled mightily the last few years. As for the 4th team, we will wait and see but hopefully it’s a Power 6 school to make this field look better.

2 Basketball Recruits make it Official

Wednesday was the first day that high school athletes could sign their National Letters of Intent to play for their respective schools and Auburn has officially secured 2 players in the 2019-2020 class. On Wednesday evening, Jaylin Williams, a 4-star forward from Nahunta, Georgia, signed his NLI to play for Auburn.

According to 24/7, Williams is the 5th highest recruit coming out of the state of Georgia next year. Williams had quite the start to his senior season on Tuesday.

The second player to make it official was Allen Flanigan, a 3-star forward out of Little Rock, Arkansas. Allen is the son of assistant coach Wes Flanigan and will join his father here in Auburn next year. Flanigan signed his NLI in a ceremony as his high school on Thursday. 24/7 has him ranked as the third highest recruit coming out of the state of Arkansas next year.

In addition to Williams and Flanigan, Auburn has commitments from Isaac Okoro, Babatunde “Stretch” Akingbola and Tyrell Jones for next season. Looking ahead to next year, these five players make up what most consider a Top 10 Recruiting class for Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers.
