It’s hard to believe that most teenagers have no recollection of Bo Jackson’s playing career. Time does move fast.
Gone are the days where Bo could show up on campus and cause high school All Americans to wet themselves at the mere sight of the great one. He was a tremendous recruiting tool for Auburn.
It seems like only yesterday that Jackson was the most popular athlete on the planet— bigger than even Michael Jordan. He was the first Nike superstar.
Today’s look back focuses on his 1985 Heisman Trophy year. The following is a compilation of some of his runs during that season.
Of particular note is the highlight from the Georgia game which begins at the 1:26 mark of the video. Like Pat Sullivan 14 years earlier, Jackson used the Dawgs to solidify his hold on the Heisman Trophy.
Bo wrapped up the award on an 84-yard touchdown run that became one of his most famous while on the Plains. The game marked Jackson’s final victory as a Tiger. Auburn defeated Georgia 24–10 on the way to a Cotton Bowl berth against Texas A&M.
