Jarrett Stidham named to Davey O'Brien Award watch list

Jarrett Stidham was tabbed for another preseason honor on Tuesday as he was one of 26 quarterbacks named to the Davey O'Brien Award watch list.

Stidham is one of six SEC quarterbacks to make the list, joining South Carolina's Jake Bentley, Missouri's Drew Lock, Mississippi State's Nick Fitzgerald, Alabama's Jalen Hurts and Georgia's Jake Fromm.

Stidham, who was named to the Maxwell Award watch list on Monday, threw for 3,158 yards and 18 touchdowns last season while completing 66.5 percent of his passes in his first year for Auburn.

Stidham, a redshirt junior, is one of 12 juniors on the watch list this season. Half the list is comprised of seniors (13), while one sophomore (Fromm) made the cut.

Sixteen semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 6, and then three finalists will be chosen from that group on Nov. 19. The Davey O'Brien Award will be handed out to the winner on Dec. 6 at the College Football Awards show.
