AL.com All-Access: What impressions did you draw from Auburn A-Day game?

Auburn's 2018 spring football practice is in the books, following Saturday's A-Day game.

The A-Day game is only a piece of spring workouts, and with it on TV, Gus Malzahn and company weren't likely to show a whole lot. But since it's the only part of spring we get an extended look at, we can at least draw a few inferences about what the Tigers might look like in 2018.

Here are five impressions I was able to draw from Auburn's A-Day game, some good, some bad:

1. The defensive front is really good again: As they showed again Saturday, Nick Coe, Dontavius Russell, Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson form the core of what could be a dominant defensive line for the Tigers. Auburn has lost the likes of Carl Lawson, Montravius Adams and Jeff Holland in recent years, but it hasn't made any difference.

2. The backup quarterbacks aren't ready: Jarrett Stidham sat out the contact portion of A-Day while continuing to recover from shoulder surgery, leaving time for Malik Willis and Joey Gatewood to shine. It didn't happen. The two combined to complete 12 of 32 passes for 45 yards. Yuck.

3. The offensive line could be a trouble spot: We knew this going in, but it was highlighted by the way the defensive front performed Saturday. Auburn has had a ton of injuries at center, and has a number of unproven players at tackle. Right now, guards Mike Horton and Marquel Harrell are the only dependable linemen on the team, and that's not good.

4. Anders Carlson won't make anyone miss his brother: The younger Carlson turned in a performance worthy of brother Daniel, hitting all four field-goal attempts with a long of 52. This is not to say that Daniel Carlson wasn't an all-time great, but the way Anders kicked Saturday -- plus Auburn's excellent history at the position -- should leave Tigers fans with no worries heading into 2018.

5. Running back isn't anything to worry about: Like kicker, Auburn always comes up with capable players at this position. The loss of Kerryon Johnson might be felt from a versatility standpoint, but in terms of strictly running the ball, the Tigers are well-equipped here with Kam Martin, JaTarvious Whitlow and others.

6. Fans might be getting bored with the A-Day concept: Poor weather was surely a factor, but the number of empty seats at A-Day had to be disheartening for those inside the program. Is charging for a spring game (which not everyone does) simply a bad idea? Or was the fact the game was on TV enough to keep fans home in threatening weather?

So what else impressed you (good or bad) from Auburn's A-Day game? I'll take your questions or comments on that or anything else on your mind beginning at 10 a.m.
